Find your Strengths-Here are mine

According to the book Now, Find your Strengths. here I think it is pretty accurate. I love the boss who had everyone on our team read the book and take the test. The idea that you should focus on areas you have natural talent is a very simple one, but effective.

Here are my "themes" as according to the test. What does a person like this love? A person like this LOVES to get ideas on collaborative testing, share ideas, and put them into practice NOW NOW NOW. Ha! I also love working on product interaction and feature integration because the way that code connects is interesting to me.

C O N N E C T E D N E S S
People strong in the Connectedness theme have faith in the links between all things. They believe there are few coincidences and that almost every event has a reason.

I D E A T I O N
People strong in the Ideation theme are fascinated by ideas. They are able to find connections between seemingly disparate phenomena.

I N P U T
People strong in the Input theme have a craving to know more. Often they like to collect and archive all kinds of information.

A C T I V A T O R
People strong in the Activator theme can make things happen by turning thoughts into action. They are often impatient.

E M P A T H Y
People strong in the Empathy theme can sense the feelings of other people by imagining themselves in others' lives or others' situations.

Glad to hear you liked the strengths finder.

I agree with what you said about working on your strengths. I don't posses a strong theme for Empathy. No matter how hard I've tried this just doesn't come naturally to me. I've taken steps to mitigate the effect of this but if I were in a role that required this I would probably become very frustrated very quickly.

Knowing my themes helps me explain my reluctance to participating in certain efforts at my company or why I have made certain personal relationship decisions. More importantly I hope I will be more conscious of these things in the future causing me to be able to explain my thoughts better.

I thought I would share my profile with you
    - Individualization
    - Focus
    - Arranger
    - Activator
    - Significance

I would say that one advantage Empathy has as a test lead is that I care very much how my team is feeling and I notice the intricate changes in team morale even if they aren't communicated. I can sense that there is something wrong pretty naturally. I think I care more about retaining good testers as a result. The bad part is, when they move on, even if it is because they were so great that they got promoted (which they should), it hurts. I have to try not to take it personally because I feel very invested in that person. Having the Individualization theme would be so useful! I have to focus on using empathy to compensate for not having talent there. I have to focus my mind and think, "If I were an introverted person, would I be annoying me right now? Maybe he'd like me to stop asking him how he feels and for input and just let him tell me if he has any?" I think if I had that theme it would be natural and think, "That person does better with more factual information." That would be the end of it. We both have Activator as a strength, which isn't a very common theme among the 15 people who've taken the quiz that I've seen. Do you enjoy doing testing with fast cycles? I find that I love arranging testing for firedrills in a way. I think that is this theme in action. Thanks for sharing your themes. I've shared them in my personal life too and found them useful.

#strongWoman; SWOT analysis. Have you taken the MBTI?
It's not the strongest that survive, nor the most intelligent but those the most adaptive to change. I try to put myself in the shoes of my counterpart: could probably be called empathy. Within boundaries. As always being overly intensive and extreme in all my undertakings; I've decided that there are also limits to empathy. Obviously as a team lead that is a great quality you possess.
My partner is the machine so I put myself in its place and wonder what is going on inside. Empathy with the machine, OS, software. Recently heard that James Bach read 5 books on Darwin and relating it to Software Testing. Survival of the fittest code. Very interesting.
